            SEO Strategy Revs Up Organic Traffic

            THE CHALLENGE

            RealTruck is a multi-million dollar e-commerce retailer providing truck enthusiasts with an immersive and engaging online retail experience. However, they were experiencing a decline in organic traffic and needed help. With more than a million product pages, half of which were noindexed, we saw an enormous opportunity to turn the tide from a manual SEO penalty from Google to significant growth.

            THE STRATEGY

            RealTruck feared their organic traffic slowdown was driven by duplicate content. However, we quickly discovered that they were in fact under manual penalty related to several thousand bad back-links built up by a previous SEO vendor. Our holistic approach to SEO included a technical SEO strategy, content optimization, and new content creation, with the goal of improving their site content and its value to all visitors. Specifically, this entailed:

            THE RESULTS

            Through these efforts, our team was able to clean up RealTruck’s link profile and remedy the manual SEO penalty. We helped them launch a new content-production effort that provided real value and entertainment to the brand’s core audience. This not only increased the amount of truly unique content available, but improved visibility and utility of high-value content hubs deeper in the site.

            This also allowed them to differentiate their product descriptions, to prevent high-authority competitors from using the same boilerplate language and hiding RealTruck’s pages in search results altogether. Overall results included:

            • 94% Single-year growth in organic traffic from penalty recovery and careful roll-back of problematic no-index strategy
            • 48% increase in organic revenue growth over one year, contributing to more than $1 million in increased sales
            • One Million additional shoppers brought to RealTruck’s e-commerce site through organic search

            Combined with their overall growth effort, Portent’s work helped RealTruck earn recognition from Internet Retailer as the 20th Fastest-Growing Company and the 14th Fasted-Growing E-Commerce Site Nationwide. The SEO strategy we used also earned a US Search Award for Best SEO Campaign of the Year.
